Anne Cowles Hinton April 3, 1956 – November 20, 2023 Anne Cowles Hinton passed away on November 20, 2023 at Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee, Florida at age 67. Anne was born April 3, 1956 in Omaha Nebraska to parents Mary (Marohn) and H. Dean Cowles. She attended school in Atlantic Iowa, Scottsbluff Nebraska and graduated high school in Papillion Nebraska. She majored in early childhood education at the University of Nebraska and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Tassels, a student pep organization. She met Bruce Hinton at the university in the fall of 1976. She and Bruce were united in marriage September 3, 1977 in Bellevue, Nebraska and moved to Florida for Bruce's job. She became a preschool teacher and worked until the birth of their son Steven in 1986. Their daughter Kathryn was born in 1990. Anne was a stay at home mom and was very involved in their school and activities as a volunteer, PTA, and as President of Mothers United, a preschool activities organization. She also taught Sunday school for several years and was a Girl Scout leader. As the children got older she returned to college and graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor degree in education at Florida Atlantic University. She taught first grade and then was principal and teacher at the pre-K thru 8th grade school that she and Bruce owned. When Bruce's health issues necessitated sale of the school, Anne returned to teaching preschool which she truly loved. When Anne retired from teaching, she enjoyed working part time as a receptionist at a home owner's association clubhouse until her own health issues forced her to retire completely. Anne enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafts, reading, shopping, playing games and spending time with her family and friends. She had a genuine love of children and a real knack for teaching. She was a loving, caring, compassionate wife and mother. She was always optimistic and believed that things work out in the end and if they haven't worked out yet, it's not the end. She always stressed that we can do hard things. In the fall of 2020, Anne experienced an infection in her blood that had settled on a heart valve and required open heart surgery to replace the valve. She experienced pulmonary embolisms as a result of the surgery and was hospitalized for over 3 months. After returning home she steadily regained her strength until early 2023 when severe anemia caused a setback in her recovery. Treatments gradually helped the anemia but she was still very tired and struggled with daily activities. On November 20, 2023 she suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest and despite best efforts of Bruce, the paramedics and doctors she passed away. Anne was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband Bruce, her son Steven, her daughter Kathryn, her daughter-in-law Courtney and her grandson Jason. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
