ANN MARIE SIMRELL (age 77) – Ann Simrell passed away unexpectantly on Monday, March 30, 2020. She is predeceased by her husband of 25 years, William "Sonny" Simrell; her brother, Col. Frederick J. Graves, Ret. USAF; her grandson, Richard Pasley; her grandson, Tim Clay; her first husband, Larry Gensbugel; and her parents, Kermit and Catherine Graves. Ann had a large family whom she loved and enjoyed being with at family gatherings. She was a proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She is remembered with love by each of them. Ann was born in Waterville, Maine on August 3 to the late Kermit and Catherine Graves. She grew up in Maine until her senior year of high school when her parents moved her and her younger brother, Peter Graves, to West Palm Beach. Ann graduated from St. Ann's Catholic School in 1960 (the last graduating high school class). She went on to work for the phone company and E.B. Malone, a mattress company. She found her calling as a dispatcher and worked for the City of West Palm Beach, Village of Palm Springs and finally the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office until her retirement in 2009. Ann was known for being thoughtful, caring and kind always remembering special occasions of those close to her and being a sympathetic and supportive friend during times of need. She was a strong and independent woman. Ann was a parishioner at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church and a member of their Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of the Forever Young Club at St. Rita Catholic Church, as well. She volunteered at the South Florida Fairgrounds. BINGO was her favorite activity. She enjoyed arts and crafts, too. She especially loved to create new holiday crafts to give to her extended family. Ann will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Ann is survived by: Son – Brian Gensbugel (Diane Gomes), Granddaughter – Kayla Gensbugel (Tyler Hollihan), Grandson – Brian Gensbugel Jr. (Hunner Nichols), great grandson Weston and great granddaughter Haven; Daughter – Christeen Gensbugel Matos (Mario), Granddaughter – Darian, Grandsons – Mario Jr., and Edward; Stepdaughter – Sharon Liberto, Granddaughter – Angela; Stepdaughter – Karon Vendetta (Richard), Granddaughter – Brook (Shawn) and their son Grant, Granddaughter – Megan (Brian) and their children Leelin and Kayla; Stepdaughter – TerriLea de la Cruz (Teodoro); Stepdaughter – Michelle Simrell Garcia (Marcos), Granddaughter – Alisha Daniels (Justin) and their children Tristin and Justin Jr., Grandson – Anthony Simrell and his son Maino, Grandson – Justin Simrell (Sabrina); Stepdaughter – Lynne Simrell Buckingham (Dan), Granddaughter – Crystal Barrow (Rob) and her children Brandon and Juliaunna, Granddaughter – Jennifer Rouse and great grandson Everett; Stepson – Michael Simrell; Stepdaughter – Susan Simrell Brannan (James), Grandson – Sam Baity (Krystel) and their children Cheyenne, Breanna, Tyson and Sammy Jr., Granddaughter – Amanda Brannan (Troy McGann) and their children Nolan, Sadie and Grayson, Grandson – Travis; Stepson – Mark Simrell (Darlene), Grandson – Tommy Clay (Monique) and his children Madison and Emily, Grandson – John Clay and his daughter Jasmine; Stepson – Paul Simrell (Tonya Brown), Granddaughter – Krystal Daniels (Martez) and their children Martashia, Jakob, Hayden, Martez Jr and Aliliauna; Sister-in-Law – Norma Graves, Nephew – Greg Graves; Brother – J. Thomas Graves, Nephew – Sean Graves, Nephew – Tim Graves (Courtney) and their children Kelley and Caitlyn, Niece – Emily Graves; Brother – Peter Graves; along with a host of step nephews/nieces, cousins and many friends. Ann was seen as a second mom to most of her children's friends. Arrangements are being handled by Palms West Funeral Home. The family will hold a private funeral service. A public mass and celebration of life will be scheduled once the coronavirus-related crisis is abated.
