Anand Chattoo

Anand Kumar Chattoo (Daniel Chattoo),  also affectionately known as Gama or Gladwin, Passed away into God's loving care in the early hours of August 17th, 2026. He was surrounded by many loved ones at Bethesda West Hospital at the moment of his passing . He was 68 years old.

Son to Mohan P. Chattoo and Dhanmat Chattoo, Anand was born and raised in East Berbice-Corentyne, Guyana. His siblings, whom he maintained close relationship with were big brother Jai (Lloyd), big sisters Leela and Veeta, and younger brother Fenton. They bravely moved to America in pursuit of a better life and never looked back. Anand later met and devoted his heart to his beloved and late wife Jewrajie (Kamla) for nearly 40 years. They married in 1979 and together had 3 children whom they loved dearly: Raymond, Stephen and Rebecca. Anand loved to spoil his grandchildren Paul and Sabrina.

Anand grew up humbly in 59 village, East Berbice-Corentyne, Guyana. He went to Number 59 Village Primary School and learned auto mechanics and woodworking. He sacrificed everything to move to the U.S. in 1975 and he lived in Flushing/Jamaica, NY. He did various jobs in New York, including selling construction material at Eutetic and Castoline, Soviet Jewry organization, carpet/garment industry in Manhattan, print shop in Astoria, Wonder Bread Bakery, and finally transferring to Arnold/Bimbo bakery in Florida where he worked many years until he retired in 2012. Anand and Jewrajie moved to Lake Worth, Florida in 1989.

Anand is remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa and friend. He was always hardworking, exceedingly generous, radiated positivity, and incredibly loving. He loved fixing up his apartments, spending time with his wife, cooking for his family, going to church on Sundays, walking in nature with loved ones, and helping others. He enjoyed boxing and cricket, and playing tennis. He enjoyed good food and taking loved ones out to eat for any occasion. He was a devout conservative Christian with strong values. His favorite thing in life was to help anyone in anyway he could. Though his time with us has come to an end, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the goodness he shared will remain with us forever.
