Ana R. Velez

Ana Rita Garcia Velez July 13, 1931 - September 14, 2021 Ana was born in Guanica, Puerto Rico and came to the United States in 1951. Ana, along with her husband, Francisco Velez, and their infant daughter started a new life in Belle Glade, Florida where her husband worked at Okeelanta Sugar Mill. She was a homemaker going on to have 4 more children. When her children were of school age, Ana took various jobs in the Glades area. She went to community college to earn her AA degree and became a teacher's aide at Lake Shore Elementary School until her retirement from the Palm Beach County School System after many years of service. Ana was a follower of Jesus Christ and attended Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Royal Palm Beach. Ana was predeceased by her husband, Francisco Velez, Sr. As well as her son, Sammy Velez. She is survived by her daughter, Altie Whitaker (Arnold); her son, Francisco Velez, Jr.; her daughter Doris Velez; and her son Hector Velez (Jeanie). She is also is survived by her Granddaughters, Melissa Molina (Carlos), Tracy Davis (Ameer), Emily Ortega (Michael) and her Grandsons Sammy Velez (Tanya) and Jerid Velez (Tiffany). Ana has seven great grandchildren, Donovan, Briona, Darian, Jaida, Miyah, Tanner and Lucas.
