Americo P. "Rico" Galardi, age 95, of Wellington, Florida went to be with the Lord on Saturday September 12th, 2015; He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on October 28, 1919 in Revere, Massachusetts, where he was raised and lived over half of his life, he was the son of the late Angelina Cortezzi -Galardi and Guy Ditano Galardi. He was also preceded in death by his 10 brothers and sisters. Americo was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy; He served during World War II and was stationed in Pensacola, FL. After his service in the navy, he continued working on ships at the Boston Naval Shipyard, where he retired after 20 years of employment. After moving to Florida in 1973, he worked and retired from the United States Postal Service. He had a passion for the sea, boats and ships, travelling with his wife, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church in Wellington, FL and was previously a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in West Palm Beach, FL. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years Mary V. Galardi and by his children Evalynn A. Miller (Michael) of Columbus, OH, Richard P. Galardi (Pauline) of Ormond Beach, FL; Pamela Lieser of Wellington, FL and Jennifer Drozd of Royal Palm Beach, FL; Sister-in-Law Sophie Galardi of Revere, MA. Also surviving are his 10 adoring grandchildren, who will miss him greatly, and his 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends and his dog/faithful companion Cheri. He was previously married for 29 years to the late Pauline Christopher Galardi of Revere, MA. A service will be held on Monday September 21st. at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411.
