Allen Ide Slaman

December 22, 1930 — September 18, 2018

Allen Ide Slaman, husband, father, grandfather and soon-to-be-great-grandfather passed away Tuesday morning September 18, 2018 surrounded by his family. Allen was born December 22, 1930 in Lakewood, Ohio. He graduated Ohio State University with a real estate degree and later graduated with a JD from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Allen started his career in the public sector working for the federal government as a regional director at the Small Business Administration. He specialized in disaster relief and was especially proud of assisting the people and businesses of Wilkes-Barre, Pa during Hurricane Agnes in 1972. Allen retired from the SBA in 1983 and moved to the private sector. He was a deal-maker. He was a man of his word and his handshake was a contract. He developed communities in Boynton Beach, Deerfield Beach and Kissimmee. He developed golf course residential developments in Alabama and Titusville plus the lake front community: Lake Lizzie in St Cloud. Allen believed that he could leave land better than how he found it. Esther, Allen's college sweetheart, was truly the love of his life. He often said that marrying her was "the smartest and luckiest thing ever." Esther and Allen have celebrated over 65 years of marriage. Allen loved to go fishing and hunting with his children or antiquing with his wife collecting American folk art. Our beloved Allen is no longer with us and as his family we mourn our loss. But more importantly we celebrate the inspiring, generous and enduring contributions he made to our lives. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018. Viewing is 9:30 AM at Palms West Funeral Home. Following will be a service officiated by Reverend Roger Tobin. After the service we will lay Allen to rest at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery.
