Adean Venus Owen Fearing, born December 21, 1941, in St. James Parish, Jamaica, WI , passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026. He was the beloved son of Muriel Adina McNairn and Astley Fearing , and the "golden boy" grandson of Joseph and Isiriah McNairn.
Adean’s journey took him from the hills of Pleasant Valley to the city of Kingston, through Canada, and eventually to the bustling streets of New York. Known affectionately as Slim, Uncle Slim, Slimbo, Daddy, or Pops , he was a man who truly never met a stranger. In 1967, he relocated to New York to start a new chapter with the love of his life, Cynthia Burton. They were married on June 29, 1968, and raised four sons and three daughters in Laurelton, NY.
A skilled craftsman in drafting and tile setting , Adean worked in the Local 52 Tile Layers Union until his retirement in 1990. He was deeply committed to his community, volunteering as a NYC Police Department Auxiliary Officer to keep his neighborhood safe. To further build opportunity for his friends and family, he led the creation of the Tributary Corporation, through which they rehabbed various buildings in Queens and Brooklyn.
In 1990, Adean moved his family to Marietta, Georgia. An entrepreneur at heart, he recognized a need for Jamaican products in the area and returned to Jamaica to master the art of traditional baking and cuisine. He successfully operated A&C Tropical Food Store, working daily from 5:00 AM until late evening with a loving heart. During this time, he and Cynthia were active members of Shiloh SDA Church.
In 2004, Adean and Cynthia relocated back home to Jamaica for their retirement. After designing and building a magnificent home in Patrick City, they moved to the country in Mile Gully, St. Mary, where they found joy with an additional son, Jordan. Adean spent his retirement mentoring local young men and worshipping at Hunts Town SDA Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Fearing ; his children, Dexter, Chester (Colleen), Craig, Jordan (Karina), Deon, Carol, and Maxine ; and his siblings, Carol, Lorna, Lloyd, Glen, Leroy, Jewel, Marva, and Frederick. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Raheem, Carleen (Chris), Kethel, Chester Jr., Miyah, Kevin, Charleen, Victoria, Jayla, Sierra, Zaire, and Kyla ; and great-grandchildren, Chiyah, Kyla, Andrew, Akio, Matthew, Akira, Selena, and Egypt. He was predeceased by his parents , his siblings Vernie, Doreen, and Bevolin , and his son, Patrick.
Adean’s life was a demonstration of love, labor, and devotion. He will be forever remembered for his visionary mind, his skilled hands, and most of all, as a man who loved God and his family.
Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”
