April 20, 1939 - March 10, 2022
Myrian (“Myriam”) Rodriguez Gerena-Cruz April 20, 1939 to March 10, 2022 Myriam, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a care giver of people - a woman of unwavering faith built stronger than steel - able to sustain 3 husbands and the death of a son. Myriam lived a full life on her own terms - who innately knew the value of a person. Her blue/green eyes were a window to her soul, and able see further than most. Myriam is survived by her sisters, a husband, two sons, their wives and 8 grandchildren. A beautician by trade; a lover of coffee, flowers, poetry, music, of the sun and the beach. Myriam hailed from Puerto Rico and grew up in Spanish Harlem - at a very early age she lost her mother and was burdened with the frailties of beauty - she grew to be a woman filled with life, and laughter. Forever her “red” lipstick on display. Born to struggle - she triumphed in the face of evil, feared no man and overcame enormous odds to realize a life lived above reproach, defined by courage and dignity. “Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers” was her life’s motto. She convinced her children to live-by a just code in an often unkind world and served as a light in darkness. She gave all she had as a servant of god and today, her unique spirit persist in her children and grandchildren. May She Rest In Peace
