Mavis J. Hill

Mavis J Hill, mother, grandmother, sister & dear sweet friend to so many, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Billy Hill. Their marriage brought together a wonderful family consisting of 5 daughters: Melissa Hill Simmons of Wellington, Theresa Hill Tankersley of Virginia Beach, Julie Morris of Loxahatchee, Sherry Dean of Okeechobee and the late Dawn Tucker. She is also survived by 10 Grandchildren: Chuck Simmons, Zachary Simmons, Tamara Tankersley, Holly Brooks, Joshua Morris, Kayla Morris, Thomas Dean, Randy Dean, Carrie Dean and Jody Tucker and 5 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Danny Devotie of Belle Glade. Her brother The Honorable Judge Douglas Jones of Tifton, Ga preceded her in death. Some years after graduating from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida, Mavis settled in Belle Glade. There she went to work for "Doc" Hill where she met her beloved husband, Billy. Through the years Mavis worked in the medical field as a medical transcriptionist and in medical records at Belle Glade General. Mavis incurred a tremendous amount of friends through her generous love and humor. Mavis was a God given gift that can never be replaced and she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County or Samaritan's Purse.
