On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, John F Key, loving husband, son, and father of three, went to be with the Lord. John was born February 4th, 1962 in Miami, Florida to Eugene and Velma Key. On August 11, 1984 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Prior. He enlisted in the US Air Force, and served at Dover Delaware AFB. After 4 years of service, he and his wife settled in Wellington, Florida and raised 3 children. John worked for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue for 23 years retiring in 2012. During his time at PBCFR he served on Special Operations (hazmat & dive rescue) as well as being a Driver Engineer, Operator, and EMT. John had a passion for deep sea fishing, hunting, boating, football, gardening, cooking and being with his family. He loved the Miami Hurricanes, animals, and nature. He was a collector of many things and very sentimental. He was awarded EMT of the Year for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue in 1992, and Top Gun Award for best precision shooter of an M-16 rifle from the 436th Airlift Wing of the US Airforce in 1986. He was a very generous man with a big-heart and great sense of humor who loved to care for his family. John is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Key, and brothers, Bobby, Timmy and Dennis. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his mother, Velma, his 3 children, Krystal, John and Troy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly. Service: 11:00AM, Thursday October 8, 2020 Christ Fellowship Royal Palm Beach: 9905 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411 Procession to South Florida National Cemetery is Friday October 9th, 2020. Meeting at Palms West Funeral Home (110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411) at 8:45AM to begin lining up for drive to cemetery. Burial at National Cemetery will begin at 9:30AM.
