Granville L. Hicks

Granville L. Hicks, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on July 8, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee, he attended Isaac Litton High School where he earned a full football scholarship to attend Murray State University. He obtained a business degree from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. It was on the football field at Murray State where he met his beloved wife, Patricia. One of Granville’s favorite pastimes was playing and watching the game of golf. He and Patricia took immense pleasure in watching their youngest son play golf at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor as well as on the PGA tour. Granville and his family belonged to Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club in Gross Ile, Michigan, for 18 years and he was proud to call this Donald Ross course his home golf course. Granville’s remarkable professional career included positions at Mobile Oil Corporation, Quanta Corp, and General Manager of a successful environmental service business for over 20 years. He was always known for going out of his way to help others and was a true source of inspiration to all who knew him. After moving to Florida, Granville worked part-time for Home Depot Tool & Rental where he developed strong relationships over those 17 years with managers and co-workers and continued to be a mentor to those around him, both young and old. When he wasn’t working, Granville loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Whether it was on the golf course or at home, he cherished every moment shared with his loved ones. His favorite place in the world was in the company of his family. He found solace and contentment in their presence, and their happiness was his proudest accomplishment. He often expressed that they were his greatest achievement and the source of his joy. Granville leaves behind his wife of nearly 60 years, Patricia Hicks, of Royal Palm Beach, FL; his sons, Todd Hicks of Port St. Lucie, Fl and Justin (Kathryn) Hicks of Wellington, FL; two grandsons, Skylar and Owen Hicks, and two grand-dogs, Hunter and Tucker. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, kindness, and dedication to his family. May his soul find eternal peace and may his memory live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held at Palms West Funeral Home on May 25 from 4 – 7 pm. All who knew Granville are welcome to attend this special Memorial.
